“Healthy Spine, Healthy Mind: The Backbends”
8-11 Saturday

Examining the deep backbends of the Intermediate Series, Salabasana through to Supta Vajrasana. Here we begin our story of the Intermediate Series, or “Nadi Shodhana” by backbending and researching how to go backwards safely and with ease. We will research “Kapotasana” the king of backbends, and take a deeper look into what it takes to float your way in and out safely and with mindfulness.

“Hip Openers and Phoning Home: The Leg Behind the Head Postures”
1-4 pm Saturday

Second part of this workshop investigates how the hips can potentially awaken and open. The intermediate series has many leg behind the head postures: namely Eka Pada Sirsasana, Dvi Pada Sirsasana and Yoganidrasana. These create a wellness in the hip joint but can be tiresome to the back and the mind if the body is not well prepared. Here we will review our standing postures, some key players from the Primary Series such as Supta Kurmasana, and take a good look at how to lengthen the hamstrings so that we are able to cross our legs behind ourselves.

“Samastiti Upside Down: The Arm Balances”
1-4 pm Sunday

Last part of the three-part-workshop investigates the Intermediate Series arm balances: Pincha Mayurasana, Karandavasana, Mayurasana and Nakrasana. We will take a detailed look at our foundations of being upside down and how to balance our body in new ways. We will look first to the arm balances of Primary Series: how is your Bhujapidasana? Where is your centre while you are upside down? Where is the place in your being that needs balancing? Being upside down asks these questions and requires you to be inward looking so that you can be in samastiti while upside down.

This workshop is £80 for 2 days.
