Are you interested in learning how your body is put together, on a practical level? This weekend workshop will inspire next-level understaning of how your body works in asana.
Join Karen Kirkness for a weekend of studying the fundamental mechanics of the human body. In this workshop, we will refine your yoga practice and make progress based on a better understanding of structure and function of the subtle body. And yes: Body Painting!
For starters, we’ll take a look at the skeleton and learn the “bony landmarks” which form the basis of our movement. Karen will explain the bones and joints and their articulations, cartilages and connective tissues. This will be followed by a discussion of the muscles and their relationship to bones and the neuroanatomical system that bring the whole thing to life.
Interspersed with all the presentations, there will be lots of activity in Yoga postures to give participants a chance to move and make space in their own bodies for this new information.
The workshop starts with an hour of Vinyasa Yoga to warm up and tune in to our bodies. Following that, we will take a look at the skeleton to learn the basics of its construction and talk about anatomical terms of movement. The workshop includes body painting to better understand the mechanics.
The 16 hours offered in this Weekend Workshop can be applied to make-up hours for Meadowlark Yoga Teacher Trainees.
This full weekend costs £200 and includes all art materials.
This weekend workshop counts for 16 CPD points with Yoga Alliance USA or Yoga Alliance Professionals UK.
This workshop runs on both Saturday and Sunday 9 -5pm.
