Eka Pada Koundinyasana I, is Parivritta Trikonasana (Revolved Triangle Pose) on top of Chaturanga.- sounds pretty straight forward, right? Well for most of us this arm balance can seem quite complex and perhaps feel quite inaccessible. As a result, we’ve developed a workshop that will break down the posture into manageable parts to help you to understand the different aspects of the posture so that you can feel more knowledgeable and therefore more confident about progressing into this pose.
We’ll break down this, at times, difficult posture into small, accessible bite size chunks in order to gain a deeper understanding into what is required for the posture and also so that everyone will be able to work on aspects of the pose even if you aren’t yet able do the posture in its entirety.
Expect to move through a strategically sequenced vinyasa flow that will prepare the body and mind by building familiarity with what’s required to transition into the posture. Referring back to the components mentioned above that make up the posture, this sequence focuses on preparing for a deep Revolved Triangle Pose and a strong Chaturanga. There will be a sequence of standing twists in order to allow you to flow progressively and slowly towards Eka Pada Koundinyasana 1, but don’t worry if you do not feel that this arm balance is currently within your reach – the workshop aims to create a relaxed, supportive space to increase awareness of the posture and of what you can do to build up to it. Other benefits of the workshop will be strengthening the upper body and core and a series of detoxifying and heat building twists which are like a great internal massage for the organs of the digestive system. We recommend coming with an open mind and and with a relaxed approach.
