Livestreamed Yoga Sessions: schedule expanding

You can view our Livestreaming in-studio Class schedule here. Once we are fully established in this reduced number of classes, Karen will be adding some of the following sessions to the schedule, which will streamed LIVE from the Kirkness home shala:

  • 90 Minute Low Flow (Monday mornings 10 - 11:30)
    • Join Karen for a powerful sequencing improv working around functional movement principles with variations of crouch, squat, lunge, and grounding postures that pair stability with fluidity. The sequencing is inspired by Karen's research around the axial matrix, opening and awakening movement through the myofascial slings. Not suitable for complete beginners.
  • 60 Minute Riff on Intermediate Ashtanga (1pm - 2pm Saturdays)
    • Join Karen for 60 minutes working around a section of postural yoga flow based on the Intermediate series of Ashtanga yoga. Suitable for those with Ashtanga experience.
  • 30 Minutes of Arm Balancing (5pm on Fridays)
    • Stop, drop, and balance on your arms! Tune in and bring your props to play in the themes of scapular protraction, pike, and progressive inversions. This fun session is suitable for all levels, but please ensure you stay safe in any attempts at going upside down!
  • 90 Minute Advanced Power (10:00 - 11:30 Thursdays) 
    • Good, old-fashioned sweaty power yoga with Karen. This session is intended for those who have a background in flow and/or Ashtanga yoga. Karen will give some modifications but, for the most part, the sequencing will focus on expressing full postures with a focus on breathing and movement coordination. Not suitable for beginners.
  • 60 Minutes Yoga for Kids & Parents (10 - 11am Weds & Fri)
    • Who's still in their pj's at 10am? We are! Join us for "anything goes" Kids & Parents family-style yoga. Suitable for all levels, might get messy, yoga mat not even required. Bring your sense of humour and a blanket. All ages welcome.
  • 45-minute Yoga Nidra with Karen (Fri, Sat, & Sun evenings 20:00)
    • This live Nidra will lead all levels into a relaxation period, followed by a rotation of consciousness intended to transport practitioners into a hypnoyogic state where deep transformation of consciousness can take place. Practitioners will be invited to create a resolve that is reinforced as the session comes to a close.

  • 60 Minutes of Postpartum Recovery
    • Join Karen for an hour of playful yet purposeful movement and breathwork designed to nurture the mother, honour her journey, and inspire the recovery of core tissues. Suitable for women after 6 weeks p/p who have been cleared for movement practice by their health care adviser.
  • 30 Minute Breathscapes
    • Join Karen for counted breathing techniques and pranayama-inspired practices all aimed at boosting the immune system and busting stress. Suitable for all levels.
  • 30 Minute Mum & Baby
    • Join Karen & Fern for 30 minutes of gentle movement perfect for mum & baby, or dada & baby, or just about anyone needing some movement and/or giggles. Suitable for all.
  • 30 Minute Chanting session
    • Join Karen for 30 minutes exploring Shanti mantras and more, suitable for all levels and ages.
  • 30 Minute Anatomy Bites
    • These sessions will focus on an aspect of anatomy for yoga as Karen brings out all the skeletons and various models to explore ideas relevant to yoga practitioners. This is a talking session with chat enabled for viewers at home to get involved in a Q&A with Karen.
